Reported to be in satisfactory condition Tuesday was Thomas Umphrey 23, of Washburn. Hospital officials said he suffered contusions and abrasions of the abdomen.
Police said Umphrey was a passenger in a car operated by Roger A. Daigle, 22, of Washburn. Police said Daigle was proceeding south on the Gardner Creek Road about 7 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a left hand turn, going off the road to the right and coming in contact with some trees.
Two other passengers were Gary McCarthy, 20, and Stephen Rouaw, 19, both of Washburn. Officials said they were treated at the hospital and released.
Daigle's 1966 two-door sedan valued at $800 by officials, was demolished, police said.
Investigating the accident were State Troopers Dale Pelletier and Arlo Lund.
