Accident Victim Buried

Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon for Milford Humphrey, 54, of Washburn, who died en route to Gould Memorial Hospital after he was struck by car Sunday [Saturday] afternoon.

Police said Humphrey had been a passenger in a farm truck which had stopped to let him out across the street from his home. He was reported to have walked around behind the truck and stepped into the path of a compact car operated by Larry Rossignol, 23, of Caribou.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the Presque Isle hospital. Dr. Samuel Rideout, medical examiner, ruled that death was due to multiple injuries.

The deceased was born in Washburn April 11, 1915, and was the son of Whitman and Elizabeth (McCluskey) Humphrey. He was a member of the Advent Christian Church and had been engaged in farming operations, claiming, also, membership in the Future Farmers.

On July 24, 1944, he married the former Rosanna Mae Curtis, who survives him.

Other survivors are a son, Thomas William Humphrey of Washburn; a daughter, Lindy (Larry Bragg of Washburn; a sister, Mrs. Willie G. (Madeline) Whipple of Oxbow and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wayne, Wendell, Raymond, and William Humphrey, Wayne Hall and Joseph Marin.

The Rev. Read Blackstone, pastor of the Dunntown Christian Advent Church, conducted funeral services.

Burial was in Riverside Extension Cemetery at Washburn.
