Washburn Man Is Awarded Arts Degree

BRUNSWICK -- Michael Scott Cary of Washburn, was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree Saturday, May 29, [1971] at Bowdoin College's 166th Commencement Exercises.

President Roger Howell Jr. of Bowdoin presented the diploma.

Cary, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight S. Cary of McManus Street, Washburn, is a graduate of Pilgrim High School in Warwick, R.I.

An English major, Cary was awarded a General Motors Scholarship when he entered Bowdoin. He was a Dean's List student.

Cary was a student representative to the Bowdoin Board of Overseers, and he was in the cast of a Bowdoin Masque and Gown play production during his sophmore year.

A member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity, Cary was a letterman in varsity squash, and he won numerals in freshman track. 1
