Deanna Stoddard Heads For Finland

WASHBURN -- Miss Deanna Stoddard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stoddard of Crouseville, will be leaving for Helsinki, Finland, where she will enter mission work. She will be accompanied by Miss Jacqueline Drew of Alton, N.H.

Miss Stoddard and Miss Drew will be working with Reino Kohonen of Helsinki, who heads a thriving ministry in Finland connected with the Advent Christian faith.

Miss Stoddard graduated from Berkshire Christian College of Lenox, Mass, with a BA degree in Theology. She has worked 4 1/2 years as a social worker for the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare.

Sunday evening, April 23 [1972], a farewell party was given in her honor by the Crouseville Advent Christian Church at the Mission Building in Crouseville. She was presented with two matched pieces of Samsonite luggage and a purse of money.

Miss Stoddard was also honored at her parents home Wednesday morning, April 26, at a prayer coffee and was presented with a shower of personal gifts.

Miss Stoddard left here Friday, April 28, for New Hampshire and then to Lenox, Mass., where on Sunday night a commissioning service will be held for her and Miss Drew at the Hope Advent Christian Church.

On May 8, they will leave Logan International Airport for Helsinki, with stops in London and Amsterdam, Holland.
