Thompson Twirlers Take Atlantic Titles

WASHBURN -- Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Thompson accompanied their daughters, Janet and Terri, to St. John, N.B.. to compete in a National Baton Twirling Association pageant and competition, June 9-10 [1972].

Janet, who was first runner-up for Miss Senior Atlantic, was presented a trophy and banner. She took first place in the competitive performance of novice military, novice fancy strutt and fancy duet. Second place in solo and fire and basic strutt.

Terri was second runner-up for Junior Miss Atlantic. She placed first in fancy duet, fancy strutt and military, and second place in beginner fire and solo, and third place in basic strutt. She was presented a trophy and banner for Junior Miss Atlantic.

Both girls were received trophies and medals.

Tammy Mayo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Ted Mayo of Washburn, entered the competition and took third place in fire, basic strutt, military, duet and solo. She was awarded five medals.

Betty Jean Corey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold J. Corey of Victoria Street, competed in the six-year-olds division for Miss Baby Doll, winning the title and being presented with a trophy and corsage. She also made first place in military and basic strutt.
