Band wins honors in competition

WASHBURN -- The Washburn District High School band participated in the annual Maritime Band Festival held in Moncton, N.B.. Thursday, Friday and Saturday bringing home two honors.

They tied second for overall competition with bands from the United States and Canada, and first with Rockland High School. Rockland, in the concert competition with 11 competitive bands from the United States.

There was 40 bands all of 2,000 band members involved in this competitive Festival.

All bands were in the parade with Calais High School, Calais, Saturday winning thc parade competition.

Between 7,000 and 8,000 people lined the streets cheering the parade.
