I have two sets of Brennan ancestors. The first is my great-great
grandmother Ann Brennan who was married to my great-great grandfather,
John Dempsey, c. 1845. After their marriage they first lived in
Forestville, Cass Township, until about 1857 when they moved to old
Phoenix Park road in Branch Township. They lived there until they
died. The 1850 census shows Ann's mother, Ann Brennan, age 55 and
brother Thomas, age 22, living in the house in Forestville with the
Dempseys.
By 1860, Thomas had married and his wifes name was Mary. His children
were John, b. 1856 and Thomas, b. 1858. His mother Ann Brennan still
lived with them in 1860.
My great-grandfather, Edward Dempsey, one of John and Ann Dempsey's nine children, was born in 1848. He moved to Centralia in 1870 and was
married to Elizabeth Brennan (second set)in St. Ignatius Church,
Centralia, on 12-5-1871 by Father D. I. McDermott. Elizabeth was born
in Branch Dale, Reilly Township in 1852 and was a daughter of Patrick
and Catherine Conroy Brennan. These Brennans moved to Dark Corner, near
Centralia, around 1864. Affter their marriage, Edward and Elizabeth
Dempsey lived in Dark Corner until about 1880, when they moved into
Centralia proper.
Any of these sound familiar to anyone.
