About B.C.C.A

The British Columbia Cricket Association is the governing body of cricket in the Province of British Columbia.  It is the provincial liaison to the Canadian Cricket Association of which it is a member.

The Association was formed in 1912 and was fully incorporated in 1942

British Columbia is taking the lead in planning and delivering the most successful cricket programs in Canada.

By 2004, the sport is entrenched in the school system and is being played at different levels by people of every background, from the indigenous population to immigrants of multi-ethnic origin.

In striving for excellence, our vision is to also help Canada achieve One Day International status, the desideratum of all Associate member countries, and advance closer to being a major cricketing country.

MISSION

Our mission is to foster, promote and deliver services that enable the people of British Columbia to take part in the sport at all levels of participation from recreational to international.

The BCCA must prioritize its objectives or areas of emphasis, and look for the most efficient and innovative ways to accomplish its ends.

MANDATE

The BCCA’s mandate or imperative is to increase the number of participants, including athletes, officials, volunteers and partners, while simultaneously offering opportunities to strive for excellence, thus offering both a quantitative and qualitative component to its efforts.

The following values, philosophy or beliefs underpin the vision and mission statements:

  1. Lifelong Learning- Cricket can be played almost throughout one’s lifetime and it therefore offers the unique opportunity to learn and enjoy the game at many levels and intensities.
  2. Character building- The sport is known throughout the world as “the gentleman’s game” with its emphasis on good sportsmanship, and as such it has the potential of producing good citizens.
  3. Sociological values- The game also engenders camaraderie and lasting friendships at all levels.
  4. Multicultural value- The virtues of cricket are extolled in many cultures now represented in our society. Integrating the sport into the community would therefore enhance multicultural programs.
  5. Quality of service- People who participate in our sport make the choice to do so, and as such, the best should always be provided, even with diminishing resources. The best human attributes tend to be evoked with the best service.
  6. Teamwork - We recognize that it is only through effective cooperation within and among organizations that we can achieve our goals. Our commitment is to work as a team to fulfill the objectives of the association.
