Projects in...
Do you sew, embroider, needlepoint, quilt, knit, crochet, tat, rug hook?
Once upon a time, all ladies of any sort of refinement were taught to embroider, weave lace or tat, some sort of needlecraft. For many people, the manufacture of garments and every day household goods was a necessity and very costly. Needles and pins were as dear as a months pay or more. Fine fabric and notions were nearly impossible although homespun might be obtained after months of effort spinning and weaving.
Today, the necessity may have gone out of doing-it-yourself, but there is still a satisfaction and delight in crafting garments and household articles. There is something about the click of the needles, the hum of the sewing machine, the drawing of the floss through fabric, and the pleasure of saying: "I made this."
On these pages, you will find descriptions of needlecraft projects which our members have either proposed as club projects or which describe projects they have themselves completed (or attempted).
