Deck the halls and other rooms
4' X 8' sheets of 3/4" thick tongue and groove oriented strand board are glued and nailed to the floor joists. The glue eliminates finished floor squeaks and contributes to the strength of the finished product. The sheets need to whacked into place with a sledgehammer to get the sheet's tongue inside the groove of the adjoining sheet. A scrap 2 X 4 protects the edge of the sheet getting whacked.
The sheets are nailed into place per UBC* code with a nail every 6" on the edge of the sub-floor sheets and a nail every 12" on the interior of the sheets. The nail gun shoots at least 43 nails into each sheet!
