Hardy Ageratum

hardy ageratum

More Information:

plantsdatabase
This easy growing plant has a startling deep bluish to violet flower that is mesmerizing to people and to butterflies.  It forms a clump three feet tall, and beginning in September the show begins with clumps of blue flowers.
The common name for the plant comes from the flower's resemblance to the annual ageratum, which is unrelated. The plant looks and grow similarly to spearmint.
The plant grows easily from a small section of its underground runners and can expand aggressively after it gets going. Hardy ageratum likes shade for most of the day but will take some sun.
The soil should not be allowed to dry out since the plant likes it moist. It can outgrow many weeds and has such a dense clump it could be used as a ground cover.
