Sedum
|
A good plant for a dry situation. This succulent is often
used as a ground cover, especially the smaller varities.
Sedum has thick leaves with various colors and sizes. Blue
sedum has bluish-green foilage, other types have yellow-
green, reddish, or varigated leaves. Many types hug the ground and
grow only four inches tall. Blue sedum has yellow flowers that grow on stalks
in the spring.
All sedums need full sun and good drainage. A soggy soil is death
for sedum.
Any piece of stem roots easily in slightly moist soil. Some sedums
bloom in late spring. The variety pictured is "Autumn Joy", which grows about
18 inches high, blooms in September and is a favorite of butterflies.
