How to do a misty flip

Some people feel that misty flips are the same as mctwists done on street. If I thought they were, I would have left this tutorial out and just changed the wording of the mctwist one.

A misty flip is a front flip with a 540. The worrying thing about this trick is going upside down. If you can bio well and get really horizontal, then misty flips are merely extension an of this. Sort of...

First off, try and find a swimming pool with a diving board. (Wear a t-shirt because if you don't rotate enough you'll land on your chest) As you reach the end of the diving board, wondering why you ever took up skating and why you didn't listen to your parents warnings, jump hard. You have to jump up and out as you do this. Once you are airborne, bend your head down to your knees on the side that you want to spin (i.e. left knee if you were spinning anti-clockwise, or right knee for clockwise). Your shoulders should be almost vertical, so imagine you are trying to touch your knee with your shoulder when you bend.

Once you feel yourself spin onto your back, bring your knees up to your chin. Since you have so much twisting momentum, your feet will go over your head without much effort. Above all, just hold on for the ride.

When your head is almost back over your butt, get ready to absorb the shock with your knees. This is just so that you get prepared for a landing on a curb in future. Keep them relatively bent, although not too much as you will slam your butt onto the water. You should land the trick, but you may find yourself in a sitting down position some of the time. Don't give up, regardless of what happens. Even die-hard skateboarders will admire you for what you are trying to do.

When you are confident you can get this trick right in a swimming pool, try it onto loads of pillows at home. When you can do this well, put all of your pads on, as well as a helmet (you should always wear this anyway), and try it on the street. You have to try it off something at least four feet high, so that you can get the whole trick in, and not finish it off halfway into the pavement.

Once you have mastered this trick, you can try them with 720s or even 900s. This is only if your friends aren't easily impressed, however.
