Irish Surf Calendar '98
Right, here's the full Irish run-down for '98, including the major international dates.
March 14th/15th *Tramore Open, Tramore, Co. Waterford - Open, women, U18, longboard, bodyboard. *THIS WAS FLAT!*
March 28th/29th ISA Level one Instructors' course, Easkey Co. Sligo.
April 15th/16th/17th National squad training, Lahinch, Co. Clare.
April 18th/19th Salt Rock Open, Lahinch, Co. Clare - Open, women, longboard.
May 2/3 *Irish Championships, Castlegregory, Co. Kerry - Open, women, U18, longboard, bodyboard. *POSTPONED* I'm not sure why, but the nationals werecancelled at very short notice (sort it out ISA), when most people were already set up for a great weekend. Rumour has it that it was because too many students were studying for their exams, and Jamie Knox was holding a round of the British Windsurfing Championships at the same time. This was a crap one, according to Kevin Cavey of the East Coast Surf Club - no atmosphere, no party, nought. Windsurfers suck.
May 16/17 Surf World Open, Bundoran, Co. Donegal - Open, women, U18, longboard, bodyboard.
June Just in the last couple of weeks, Zoe Lally contacted us at the East Coast Surf Club offering us the opportunity of putting on a contest at Enniscrone in June. No decision made or date fixed yet, but I'll keep you posted. *NOT ON* No development from Zoe, its not taking place.
June 27/28 **Tiki Junior Championships, Portrush, Co. Antrim - U18, U16 & U14, U18 & U16 Bodyboard, U18 Girls.
July 4/5 *National Championships, Castlegregory, Co. Kerry - Come all of ye to the beautiful kingdom of kerry for a great weekend's surfing action. The weather is always good so you can camp in the designated site, great braic for sure. Come friday night to sus out the waves and the pub action. See yez all there! This was meant to be on a couple of months earlier but was postponed till now.

September 20-27 European Junior Championships, France.
October 3/4 Tiki Coldwater Classic, Easkey, Co. Sligo - Open, Longboard, Bodyboard.
October 10/11 Irish Intercounties, Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal - Team Event.
October 15-November 2 World Surfing Games, Portugal.
