Irish Surf Clubs

Here's the addresses and contact numbers of all the clubs in Ireland, plus the Irish Surfing Association.

East Coast Surf Club
Kevin Cavey, ph: 01-2856137
Formed just after Paddy's Day, this Dublin based club is the newest in the land, and is a result of huge interest in the area. Feel free to give Kevin a bell, or e-mail me, whether you're a seasoned surfer or have yet to hit your first wave. Memebership fees are £15 and will get you comprehensive third party insurance if you hit anyone. There will be loads of social nights (including Guinness sponsorship), coaching sessions for beginners hopefully and regular arranged trips to contests - great craic. Give it a go - you'll be able to borrow a board and maybe a wetsuit, all are welcome.
PLEA: As you can imagine, the setting up and the day-to-day running of a club and service such as this requires vast amounts of TIME and MONEY. We are severly lacking in the latter department - Please, please, please, if you are in a position to help us out either through direct sponsorship or providing old boards to help make this wonderful sport more accessible to beginners, or if you know anyone who is in such a position, please e-mail me, or call Kevin at the above number, even if you have any ideas of possible companies or fundraising events. Naturally there will be benefits for the sponsor - their name and logo would be basically synomenous with all aspects of the club - competitions, publicity, newsletters, t-shirts, car stickers etc. Of particular effectiveness would be the involvement of a surfing / general sports store, as any connection would of course build up huge goodwill and customer loyalty towards that firm, and as we all know, surfers always spend large amounts on brand-name boards, shoes, glasses, watches etc. and I'm certain any such link-up would pay for itself in no time. PLEASE HELP AND E-MAIL ME!

T-Bay Surf Club
Michael Kelly, 4 Little Market Street, Tramore, Co. Waterford. ph/fax: 051 386034.
T-Bay is the home of Ireland's largest surf club. Founded in 1968 it has been at the forefront of Irish competitive surfing for 3 decades and has dominated Irish competitive surfing at both junior and senior levels. T-Bay or Tramore Bay as it is known to many is located in the South East corner of Ireland. It picks up swell mainly from the SE -> SW and depending upon wind direction the bay itself or some of the nearby beaches can offer quality waves. The cold water temperatures do not keep surfers out of the water but many have in winter, been known to migrate to warmer climates for extended periods of time.
