The short course season ended last weekend at the Far Western Swim Meet in Pleasanton, but not before some great swims by Daly City Dolphins. Alex Banares and Justin Vergara were both 15th in the western states in the Breast Stroke, and Jeff Lu was close behind in 20th in the 200 Breast. The 13-14 boys 200 Free Relay of Justin, Jeff, Sky Corbelli, and Stanley Chen was 9th (just 2/10's off an 8th place pin), and came back Sunday for 6th in the boys 200 Medley Relay. The boys 11-12 400 yard Medley Relay was 11th after dropping 3 seconds, and 9th in the 200 Medley Relay.
Alex Banares closed out his 11-12 career with 5 out of 6 life best times and awesome relay splits in the 200 and 400 Medley Relay. He comes into 13-14 with 5 A times and many points scored for DCD, and high point trophies to remember his 11-12 days with!
The week before, at the So. San Francisco meet in Pacifica, Jeff Lu went from AA to PRT in the 100 Breast Stroke as did Ruth Dimagmaliw in the 8/Under 50 Breast.
New AA times for Jeff Lu in the 100 and 200 meter Back, Chris Nguyen in the 11-12 50 Free and Fly, and Jonathan Stember in the 10/Under 50 Breast.
New A times were given to Alyssa Bautista in 8/Under 50 Free and Back, Rosa Castellon in 13-14 100 Back, Melanie Chan in 10/Under 50 Breast, Wilbert Chan in 11-12 200 and 100 IM's and 50 Free, Kevin Dolar in 11-12 100 Fly, Earlyn Elaria in 8/Under 25 Free, Jason Galvez in 10/Under 50 & 100 Free and Back, Jerika Lim in 8/Under 25 Free, Najelah Najdawi in 8/Under 50 Breast and Back, Alyssa Stember in the 10/Under 50 & 100 Breast, Stephanie Ueng in the 11-12 50 Back and 100 I.M., and Eddy Yau in the 10/Under 100 & 200 IM, and 50 Fly.
Also posting best swim times were: Kevin and Marc Apolinario, Elizabeth and Isaac Castellon, Bradford Chan, Stanley Chen, Doris Ching, Michael Cuvin, Gari Diaz, Lana Dongses, Ashley Ann Feria, Michelle Gerigk, Jazmin Holmes, Aaron Huang, Alexander and Jessica Jang, Christine Kashevaroff, Caleb Kwong, Kristie La, Patrick Lee, Nicky Leung, Brannon Marsh (in his 1st meet), Eliot Quon, Patrick and Priscilla Ting, Tiffany and Wilbur Tirtadinata, Jonathan Ueng, Alex Vallejo, and Benny Yau. Over 60% of the swims were life best times and we were the biggest team there with 51.
Our next team meet will be long course (50 Meters) at Los Altos on April 16-17-18, followed by Solo's "A" Meet at the brand new Sacred Heart High pool on May 8-9. Westmoor High begins it's season on April 15th and will have meets at our pool that day, and April 27th, so be warned that practice on those days may start a bit late due to the lengths of their meets.
New additions to the DCD family are Naomi Dimagmaliw, Alexandra Diaz, Thomas Stember, and Titus Wong. Good job new moms and dads.
No practice on Good Friday, April 2nd. The Dolphathon money is due to Norma Cosiac by May 1st. We have a prize to the swimmer with the most money pledged, and to the swimmer with the most money turned in by May 1st... So raise that money and turn it in early!
