Coach's Corner
Good vibrations in July. We had 4 high point winners at the Tahoe Invitational swim meet.
Justin Vergara won the 13-14 boys division, Alex Banares won the 11-12 boys division, Kevin Dolar won the 10 & under division and Ashley Ann Feria won the girls 6 & under division. Justine DeCastro hit her first AA time and Terence Leung posted his first A time. Everyone had a great time and some swimmers even swam fast. Far Westerns are here Aug. 6-9th. Kevin Dolar, Nicky Leung and Justin Vergara will be representing Daly City.
Great America was a lot of fun but less than half of the team took advantage of the free admission and bus ride. At least we know that it's not just swim meets the team doesn't attend! Morning swim has ended and seemed to work well for Stanley Chen, Kevin Dolar, Sky Corbelli and Jonathan Stember. We had a few drop-ins now and then who helped us watch the sun come up under the fog.
Summer Pre-Comp lessons were a big hit again this year thanks to our wonderful volunteers. It is inspiring to see our swimmers pass on to a new generation of Daly City Dolphins the skills they have learned from past D.C.D swimmers. Thank you for all your help. Pre-Comp ends August 14th. The pool is scheduled to close for repairs August 24th. As usual we will try to find water for the kids going to the Labor Day meet in Monterey. The pool is scheduled to re-open after Labor Day, but Erik (the pool engineer) says the pool will be finished by September 1st.
Sports Night is set for August 13th at Pacelli Gym in Westlake. We will have competition between the parents/coaches and swimmers. There will be a pizza party and dance for the group after the competition.
If you're going to the Monterey Labor Day meet then send in your entries NOW!!! There is a limit on the number of swimmers this year.
