More great swims in July!!! At the Pacific Swimming Age Group Championships in Concord. Justin Vergara placed 2nd in the 200 meter Breaststroke, breaking a team record and was 3rd in the 100 meter Breaststroke. Jeff Lu was 10th in the 100 and 15th in the 200 meter breaststroke. Alex Banares and Sky Corbelli joined them for the 200 meter Free relay for a 4th place and a time 4 seconds under the Far Western qualifying time. The quartet are off to Carson City Nevada this week to represent DCD at the Western States Championships.
At the Lake Tahoe Invitational, Jessica De Castro won the 6/under girls high point trophy and Justin Vergara won the 13-14 boys high point trophy. Kevin Apolinario closed out his 8/under career with 5 PRT times and runner up for high point. Ruth Dimagmaliw was also runner-up in the 8/under girls high point. Terrence Leung posted his 1st PRT in the 8/under 50 Breast. Marc Apolinario led the new AA crew with 4 and just missed AAA in the Breaststroke by .3 seconds. Kevin Dolar added an 11-12 AA as did Janice Leung , Jonathan Stember and Benny Yau. Jeff Lu posted a AA in the 13-14 200 I.M. New A times for Alex Banares, Bradford and Melanie Chan , Justine De Castro, Danielle Del Carlo, Tom Lo, Ellen Savelli, Alyssa Stember, Priscilla Ting, Stephanie Ueng and Eddy Yau. Also competing were: Alysssa Bautista, Wilbert Chan, Michael Cuvin, (runner up for 6/under high point), Christine Del Carlo, Lana Dongses, Ashley-Anne Feria, Jonathan Fu, Alexander and Jessica Jang, Christina Kashevaroff, Kristie La, Liana Leung, Jerika Lim (in her last 8/under meet), Jessifer Lu, Gabriella San Diego, Patrick Ting, Jonathan Ueng, and A.J. Vergara.
At the MPM "B" meet last weekend, more new A times for Alyssa Bautista, Stanley Chen, Justine De Castro, Desiree Romero, Janessa Rozal, Jesse Rozal, Wilbert Tirtadinata (in his last 8/under meet), and Stephanie Ueng. Jessifer Lu recorded her 1st A time. Other competitors were: Tony and Jennifer Abuyaghi, Jessica De Castro (8 first places), Lana Dongses, Earlyn Elaria, Jason Galvez, Michelle Gerigk, Alexander and Jessica Jang, Valerie Kam (in her 1st meet), Christina Kashevaroff, Caleb Kwong, Jamielyn Romero, Gabriella San Diego, Tiffany Tirtadinata and Jonathan Ueng.
Important dates in August to remember: August 6th, (Friday), NO practice for the Team outing. August 13th. Pre-comp ends. August 16th -20th, Try-outs at 4 p.m. to join the Swim Team. August 23-24, Pool Closed for "super-chlorination", NO practice. August 25th thru September 3rd, Practice times will be 4:30 to 6:30.
On a sad note, your prayers are requested for the Jaquinto and Stember families on the death of one of their loved ones.. We look forward to happier times.
