DOLPHIN REPORT

VOLUME 6, NO. 2 - Daly City Park and Recreation Department
FEBRUARY 1999

New News from Coach Wales....

Congratulations to Nicky Leung who closed out his 10 & Under career with new team records and medals in the Pacific Swimming Age Group Championships in Salinas. He missed the National Top 10, but his accomplishments made us all proud!

At the Solo Meet, January 809 at Pacifica, new "A" times were recorded by: Alyssa Bautista, Sky Corbelli, Janice Leung, Jerika Lim, Najelah Najdawi, Desiree Romero, Jamielyn Romero, Derrick Soriano, Marc Soriano, and Rochelle Soriano, Priscilla Ting and Sophia Williams.

ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS...

Zone Championships are on us again. We will need timers for Lane 10 in the younger end of the pool. We will also man a First Aid station and supply a marshall for each day. Please plan to help your fellow parents with these duties. Remember to bring 8 quarters each day for parking. There will be NO hospitality provided by DACA at this meet, so parents, bring some food!

OFFICIALS CLINIC...

Dads - There will be an officials clinic on February 6th at the Priary in Portola Valley. All current officials and interested new parents should attend (car pool?).

OFFICIALS CLINIC...

1999 Swim guides are available at the pool (one per family please). The Parent Board has set March 6th as the tentative date for our Winter outing. All swimmers attending the Zone Championships are eligible to go on the bus. More information will follow as the event nears.

DOLPHA-THON NEARS...

Our yearly Dolpha-Thon fund raiser and Awards Night have been scheduled for March 31st and April 1st this year. Please mark your calendar, and keep those important dates open.

SAFETY CONCERNS...

Parents, PLEASE pick up your swimmers promptly at the pool after practices. We have had a few scary situations with kids standing alone in the dark waiting to be picked up.

The last item is a continuing problem which must be addressed. We have swimmers who are dropped off at 5:00p.m. and don't get into the pool until anywhere from 5:30p.m. to 6:00p.m. This poses a safety hazard as they are unsupervised wherever they are while you (parents) think they are safe in the water. THIS IS THE LAST WARNING. Swimmers not in the water in a timely manner (5 minutes after drop-off) will be suspended from the team and not allowed back in the water until they sign a code of conduct agreement. So parents, ask your children if they are in the pool promptly - there will be no exceptions.
