Congratulations to the DCD Dolpha-thon fundraising winners: 1st Place - The Ting Family; 2nd Place - The Chokkar Family; 3rd Place - The Najdawi Family.
Families, a final reminder to turn in ALL Dolph-Thon monies immediately. Per our team guidelines, if you did not participate in the swim, you will be sent the additional amount due of $25.00 per swimmer.
What a weekend! West Valley saw some great DCD swims. In the Senior Trials and Finals, Justin Vergara finaled in the 100 and 200 Breast Stroke, and swam an incredible 1:14:57 100 Meters in order to win the consolation finals. He dropped 3 seconds off his life best time at the meet and surprised the 17-18 year olds he was swimming against (the time is a 15-16, 17-18 Q time). In the next heat, Jeffrey Lu did the same thing as he won the bonus consoles and went from 'AA' to PRT with 1:17.95.
In the age group meet at W.V., Christine (Ruth) Dimagmaliw led the way as she posted all PRT times winning the 50 Back and Breast, and broke Marirose Dayao's records from 1991 in the 50 Free and Back.
Jerica Lim posted a new PRT time in the 50 Breast, and Najelah Najdawi was right behind her as the DCD's went 1-2-3 in the event. New 'A' times were recorded by Melanie Chan (10/U 50 Free, 100 Back), Ashley Anne Feria (8/Under 50 Fly), Kristie La (8/Under, 50 Free and Back). Also competing for DCD was Alexander and Jessica Jang, Christopher Nguyen, Patrick and Priscilla Ting. Meanwhile at the DACA meet, Stanley Chen recorded a new 'A' in the 13-14 200 Meter breast stroke and Kevin Dolar, Christine Kashevaroff, and Patrick Lee swam for DCD.
Competing in July is a MUST! The summertime is when you can concentrate on your swimming. We have 120 members on the team. We have 80-100 swimmers at practice each day. We had fewer than 20 swimmers compete in the last 3 months. Get to one of the following meets: July 9-11 at Lake Tahoe or IVAN; July 15-18 at Concord AA+ meet; July 24-25 at MPM 'B' Meet at Serra High. We have meet sheets available at the pool for all of these meets. There are NO MEETS in August!
SUMMER OUTING will be to Marine World in Vallejo in August. The team will pay for DCD Swimmers. Price for siblings is $13.00/Children; $17.00 for 12 and up. The August newsletter will have permission slips and more info.
ELECTIONS are this time of year. We have a dedicated group of parents who keep the team solvent and provide fun activities for the children. They need other parents to get involved. Use the enclosed form to nominate yourself or another for one of the positions you can fill. Your children need YOUR help!
WELCOME to new coaching interns Walter Ancheta and Karen Cerri. They will be doing a Pre-Comp group for the summer (they are both former DCD Members). Cara Savelli will be doing Karen's group while Karen is on vacation.
FAR WESTERNS will be in Carson City, NV on July 28-Aug. 1st. So far Justin and Jeffrey have qualified, and no relays.
