The annual DCD Welcome Back Dinner was a big success thanks to Mrs. Banares' organization, a super kitchen staff, and great parent cooks! We served over 300 people and got to meet most of our 136 Daly City Dolphins and their families. Our team is bigger than ever in it's history (our old record was 128). Good job Marissa, Melissa, Kenneth, Jose, Catie, and Mrs. K, and all the DCD swimmers who volunteered to coach this summer.
Our new system is working well. Jose and Marissa are on Lane 1 (8/U) from 4-5:00 p.m.; Kenneth has the veteran 8/U in Lane 2 from 4- 5:30. Catie has the new 10/U in Lanes 3-4 from 4-5:00, and veteran 10/U from 5-6:30. Jose takes the 11- 12 new swimmers from 4-5:30, and Mrs. K. takes the veteran 11-12;s from 5-7:00. I do the new 13/ups from 4-5:30, and the veteran 13/ups from 5-7:00 p.m. All the swimmers are getting more attention, and the coaches are able to do a better quality and quantity of a work out.
I want to thank that parents for their support as we "re-organize" to meet the needs of all 136 DCD swimmers...
Great job to all our Labor Day swimmers! DCD placed 2nd out of 50 teams at Monterey. Nicki Leung and Ashley-Ann Feria won high- point for their age groups. Alex Banares recorded his 1st 11-12 PRT time; Justin Vergara added new 13/14 PRT's; Kevin Dolar and Nicky added 10/U PRT's as well.
New AA's were posted by Raquel and Ruvilyn Dayao, Justine DeCastro, and Justin Vergara. New A's came from Kevin Apolinario, Ruth DiMagmaliw, Janice Leung, Jeffrey Lu, Christopher Nguyen, and A.J. Vergara. Other DCD competitors were Andrew Alorro, Marc Apolinario, Alyssa Bautista, Maria Calvo Y Perez, Jessica DeCastro, Danielle DelCarlo, Lana Dongses, Jason Galvez, Liana Leung, Terrence Leung, Tom Lo, Jessifer Lu, Marco and Martin Morales, Michael Rapadas, Desiree and Jamielyn Romero, Alyssa and Jonathan Stember, Genevieve, Keoni, and Sophia Williams, and Benny and Eddie Yau.
Not only did everyone swim "fast", but they had fun camping in Monterey and at the dance after the meet. The Hawaii '99 Meet Committee will meet on Thursday October 1, up in the stands at the pool at 5:00 pm to discuss the progress of our information gathering.
Parents should gathering meet program ads and sponsors NOW for our November meet. Give ads and payments to Violeta Dayao. Please keep the following dates open: Oct.24-25 (MPM Meet); Nov.21-22 (Our DCD Meet); Dec. 4-5-6 (Pacifica Meet); Jan 30-31 (Zone Championships. New parents will receive a pack of goodies at a special meeting on Monday, October 5 in the stands at 5:00pm. I will give out team guides, Pacific Swimming Swim Guides, and other free materials which give you DCD Team information you will need.
I would like to welcome all of the new swimmers to the team. I am so excited for this coming year. I have already noticed such an improvement with many new swimmers. I would also like to thank all of the parents and swimmers for making the Welcome Back Dinner such a great success. Let's keep up the good work, because our Swim Meet is just around the corner!!
Great people. Great feeling. Great fun. These are three phrases that best describe my reception as a new Team Coach for the 8 & Under Dolphins in Lane 2. First off, I would like to congratulate my swimmers for a job well done. Summer is finally over and I'm glad you guys are still going strong. I see much improvement. I am hoping for more to come. I am looking forward to the months ahead, so I'll see you at the pool. SWIM HARD!
