Vertical Disparity's
Fred Lundquist!!
Fred's the only California Home Boy on the
team. All others are cheap imports. Fred is by far the handsomest guy on the team;
really stands out in a crowd, so it's easy to see why they made him center float.
However, due to a recent back surgery,
Fred had to sit out part of the '97 season. But, don't worry too much; he's doing just fine
now. He just finally had to take care of that nagging
herniated disk. The surgery went very well, prognosis is excellent, and he's
already back in the air with the team. One interesting factoid was learned, though:
There are now FIVE people on this team who have had back surgery!!!
They ought to change the name of the team to "Spinal Disparity"!
Sorry, ladies, he's married, and
quite happily, thankyouverymuch!! But Doug, Frank and Roy B. are still single, so if you
want to skip Fred's interview and get right back to trolling for eligibles, we'll understand
. But you'll be missing a great interview. Suit yourself!
We busted our tails trying to catch up
with Fred!! Yeah, and YOU all thought he slowed down! But, Noooooooooo!!!
WHAT a busy guy!! Between all his work, skydiving, and his Instrument Flight Instruction,
it was tough to catch him, but, we finally did. And, he was ever so gracious and granted
us 30 seconds to get these questions out. We think you'll be amazed at some of the facts
about Fred:
Q: So, how many jumps are you up to now, Fred?
A: I dunno, but I know it's more than Andy!
I think it's close to 3450 or two billion or something...
Q: Wow. Up there in the stars, eh? So, why
do you like doing 8-way?
A: I like the demands of finesse and the largeness
of the moves.
Q: Very impressive! And, why do you compete?
A: Because it enbiggens my skydiving.
Q: And I can see what it's done for your
vocabulary! Ok, so you gotta have a favorite block... What would that be?
A: The three bears!
Q: Wow! That's astounding!
I think that's Janet's favorite, too! In fact, I'm sure of it! So, what was your most
memorable skydive?
A: Probably would be my
wedding reception jump. Not only did I marry the love of my life,
I got to do a cool skydive, too! I got to jump in my tux, just
like James Bond! And with all my good friends on the load.
I was just awesome. What a great party!!
Q: GOOD ANSWER, FRED! What a guy!
OK, now the questions get a little tougher. How many two cent stamps are in a dozen?
A: Twelve, of course!
Q: Damn, you're good! OK, if a train leaves from
New York at 8:00 AM traveling to Los Angeles at 70 mph, and another train leaves Los Angeles
an hour later traveling to New York at 80 mph, which train will be closer to Chicago when
they meet?
A: Do you think this stuff up on your own?!
Q: ...Give up??
A: No, I don't!!! Um, well, OH!! They'd be the
SAME distance from Chicago WHEREVER the trains meet! (insert big proud smile here)
Q: DAMN! You ARE good! Let's see if you know
this one: Tom Hanks or Tom Cruise?
A: That's a tough one, but I gotta go with Tom
Hanks.
Q: That is absolutely right! Very impressive indeed.
We just have time for one last question.
So, when you're reflecting on the day, or gazing at the stars, wishing you were cruising
around in the space shuttle, do you ever think of profound thoughts on skydiving???
A: Skydiving is a metaphore for life; it goes
quickly, but there's plenty of time to do what you want if you're focused.
Wow! No shit, Fred. You are just the coolest,
most together guy. That Janet is one lucky little lady. She must be pretty cool too, to
be paired up with the likes of you. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to
share those thoughts with us.
E-mail Fred with your questions!
