Vertical Disparity's June Urschel!!
Well, well, well! Will ya get a load of who just joined the ranks of the Vertically Dispaired!!! If it ain’t our own little beloved June Bug!!! Don’t know if the USPA judges threw her out, or if she ran for her life! But we aim to have fun finding out! And if we learn something about judging or Marie Calendar’s pies along the way, all the merrier!
June is from Orange County, California, and loves the wild and single lifestyle that she’s grown accustomed to. The only permanent guy you’ll find in her bed is her boy Lloyd. She likes the way he follows orders and doesn’t give her any lip! (Although, it's rumored he gives good tongue!)
She agrees with Andy that tequila is Mother’s Milk, and we couldn’t help but notice a faint resemblence between the two of them…. Watch how they both laugh, especially when an exit funnels! It’s pretty scary to think they might be related…. Well, at any rate, we’re sure to have fun with her in this ’98 season, and we think judging by this interview, you’ll see what we mean!
Q: Well, Hello, June!!! Great to see you on the competitor’s side of Omniskore, for a change! Girlfriend, you are one famous character! They’re still telling stories about you in your old skydiving days ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY!!
A: And I’m hear to tell ya, I’m back jumpin’ regularly, just to give them some new material!
Q: Yahoooo! Look out, world! So, how many jumps you got by now?
A: Well, I started jumping in 1981, (that was before you were born, hon), and I’ve been pretty busy the past few years with judging, but I still managed to get about 2600 skydives in. Now that I’m hanging up my stop-watch and my judging bifocals for a spell, I reckon I’ll have more jumps than that old fart Cottingham in no time!
Q: Why do you like doing 8-way?
A: For the party!! And there’s more people at an 8-way party!
Q: More tequila, no doubt! And, why do you compete?
A:Because I like to see the progression from the practices to the meets. That performance is the proof of the progression.
Q: What's your favorite block?
A: Well, since I got Janet’s old slot, I gotta say Taj Mahal or Sat/Sat. She’s knows what I mean! You just gotta love drivin’ those cats around the sky! YeeeeeHA!!!
Q: So, what was your most memorable skydive?
A: Oh, it has to be the one where we launched a 9-way diamond out the door and I was the point. I got to watch some bozo bouncing around and rolling across the formation. He finally landed on Lizard’s back and took him out!
Q: BJ Worth has been trying to duplicate that stunt for years! Well, June, I suppose someone who’s been around the block as many times as you have, must have some mighty profound thoughts on skydiving. Care to share them???
A: Nope. I need tequila to have a profound thought.
Q: Care to share your tequila?
A: Well, I can do that for ya. But that’s all your gettin’ from me tonight. Say, you old enough to drink, kid?
