Bluhm County Park, LaPorte County
Trails are considered intermediate level for the average mountain biker.
Some hills, none very large, and lots
of interconnecting trails - over
5 miles total. It is mostly woods with beautiful scenery.
The Park is located near Westville, Indiana - south of Michigan
City, east of Valparaiso, west of South Bend and LaPorte.
Go to the US Hwy 421 and State Hwy 2 intersection and go west
(the road becomes County Road 300 (south). Continue west to
the second left, which is County Road 1100 West. Turn left (south)
3/4 of a mile. You will see gravel parking lots on each
side of the road. The bike trails are to the west, through
the grass easement in the field and in the woods in back.
You will see the trail and signs when you arrive. Trails through
the woods on the east side are for hiking only. The hike
is worth it, as there is a stocked pond at the far east end.
Wildcat Valley Park (Kokomo Area)
1.9 miles of moderate wooded singletrack. From downtown Kokomo,
take Hwy 22W
9 miles to CR 900W and turn left. Go about a mile to CR 00NS
and go .5 miles to CR 950W
and turn left. Go .5 miles to the Wildcat Valley Park Entrance.
Turn right and follow the road
to the parking area.
France Park (Logansport Area)
4.2 miles of moderate rock and gravel path. From Logansport,
take Hwy 35 north about
one mile to Hwy 24. Go about 3 miles and turn left into France
Park. Follow the road to the
parking area.
Kekionga Mtn Bike Trail (Huntington Area)
11 miles of easy flat wooded singletrack. From Fort Wayne, Take
I-69 south to Hwy 24W.
Go 18.8 miles to Hwy 5S and go about 1.9 miles to Huntington.
Take Hwy 224/5S 1.7 miles
to the Hwy 5 "Y". Take Hwy 5S 2.1 miles to Little Turtle SRA.
J.B. Franke Park (Fort Wayne Area)
15 miles of moderate wooded singletrack. From Fort Wayne, take
I-69 north of town to
Goshen Rd S to Sherman Blvd. Turn left on Sherman Blvd and go
.4 miles and turn left into
the Franke Park Entrance. Veer left and follow the road to the
Nature Center.
Wellington Farm Mtn Bike Trail (Syracuse Area)
3.7 miles of difficult singletrack. From Syracuse, go north on
Hwy 13 about 1 mile and take
the first left past County Line Rd South and the guardrail. Take
this driveway past the barn and
park in the open area just past the posts on the right.
Calumet bike Trail (Chesterton Area)
10 miles of easy flat sand and gravel path. From Michigan City,
take Hwy 12W about 12 miles
to Dunes Acre Rd and turn right. Go about .2 miles to the parking
area on the left.
