Bleed To Death

REVIEW of SOULFLY @ the OZZFEST `98 MK, England

sent to me from: Calvin

June 20th 1998 - Milton Keynes Bowl, England
I saw Soulfly for the first time at the Ozzfest and I was converted instantly Live they had loadsa raw energy and captivated the 60000 present with awe inspiring ease. The new kids were being tested and the passed with flying colours. There were so many questions before hand such as why they were above Slayer on the bill and how come they were even on the main stage. But Max`s name carries alot of weight nowadays and they sure proved WHY they were up as high as they were. I bought the album the day after and haven`t looked back since. With the exception of Slayer they were the best act on the bill for energy and captivation. I was almost dubious as to whether Max could escape from the Seps sound but I felt they`d done that with some excellent progression and new ideas. They did play Roots near the end but you can excuse them for that cos the crowd certainly didn`t mind!

As a result of the Ozzfest I`m now converted and I think if people check `em out live they will be too. 1
