That's it. You are sick of scrolling through dozens of different webpages that are all full of links and adds but don't contain any actual information. You want content. Well I'm here to tell you a sad and auwful truth: With the exception of a few, isolated, philanthropical sites, there is none!
But there is a source of vast amounts of content, of all sorts. And that is in books. Remember books? Available from your local bookstore for less than the cost of a few hours online.
But what's that I hear you say? The local stores are all crap? That they consist entirely of Spice Girl Biographies and Political Propaganda disguised as public Edutainment? Then what you need is Amazon.
Amazon gives you access to a vast selection of titles, many of which may not be available in your town (for commercial reasons) or your country (for political reasons).
But still you are not happy, because there are so many books that you don't know which ones to read. Well that is where this Zine comes in, because this will tell you what to read, and why. Now if the concept of book reviews makes you get flashbacks to 3rd grade when you had to write out some summary of "Digger and Tom see a Cat", then you are in for a treat.
The simple fact is that reading is about getting educated, getting widely educated. Not just knowing what a adverb is, but knowing how to track one down and kill it using a weapon you've made yourself out of some rolled up paper and an bike pump. And then knowing how to skin it, cook it, and then get out of the dangerous weapons law violation that you've just been served with. A wide education is being able to fix your own car, to the point where it will beat any Ferrari in a race, yet still pass a roadworthy inspection and still not cost as much as going to a mechanic. It is being able to work your way around all those annoying rules, regulations and restrictions that "the System" imposes on us. It is being able to draw apon all the intellectual resources of McGyver, Richard Feynman, and Warren Buffett.
To achieve this level of education doesn't cost much, providing you know what to read and when. And that is why you need to read the reviews in this website.
Now as you may have guessed, these reviews are done in association with
Amazon.com. This is the world famous Online Bookstore. So should you
wish to purchase a book through these links (and I really hope you do
) then you will be dealling with them, with all that that means in terms
of reputablility and safety.
