GLOW IN THE DARK SHRIMP
The GITD Shrimp is very similar to the Hi Vis Shrimp with the addition of extra materials. This fly I tied to fish at night for black bream and mulloway. It is also handy fished in low light situations like extreme overcast, late afternoon and murky water.
The fly is "charged" with a flashlite for a minute or so before fishing. The predominantly light sensitive materials will then glow for up to ten minutes before needing to be recharged. Fish as for Hi Vis Shrimp
Materials :
Hook : Size 6 - 2/0 Mustad 34007 or Gamakatsu SS15. Bend the hook upwards so that it has a slight curve along its full length.
Eyes : 50lb Mono burnt to form eyes on stalks. A black marker can be used to emphasise the ball of the eye.
Feelers : A reasonable clump of Glow in the Dark sparkleflash approx. half the length of the hook with 6-10 longer strands.
Body : Fine chenille.
Rib : 2-3 strands of Glow in the Dark sparkleflash.
Shell : Glow in the Dark sparkleflash tied in at tail and held down by the body rib. Leave enough at each end to form the tail and the carapace. Coated with Devcon 5min epoxy along the top only.
This fly can be tied in any number of colour variations to suit your needs.
Good Luck.
