BASIC STREAMER

This is a very simple fly to tie but is a very effective fly in the water. Long before the marvels of epoxied surf candies anglers used this fly, which has its origins in freshwater salmon and trout fishing, to take species like tuna, mackeral and tailor. Fished in much the same manner as the surf candy, this slimline baitfish pattern can be cast into schools of fish and retrieved flat out.

Materials

Hook : Size 4-2/0 Mustad 34007 or Gamakatsu SS15
Eyes (optional) : Stick on or painted.
Body : Braided mylar or tinsel.
Tail : Bucktail or goathair.
Wing : Bucktail or goathair with a few strands of krystal flash (dress lightly). Use a darker colour than the tail.
Throat : Red krystal flash.


Go for it and good fishing.
