WOOLHEAD MULLET

The Woolhead Mullet is obviously an imitation of a small mullet or other baitfish but unlike other baitfish patterns it offers a soft feel as well as a good profile and lifelike action. This fly has worked well in both southern waters and the tropical north. It has proved itself on mulloway, barramundi, big flathead and queenfish to name a few.

Materials :

Hook : Size 2 - 4/0 Mustad 34007 or Gamakatsu SS15
Eyes : Dumbbell, plastic or stick on.
Tail : 4 - 8 white saddle hackles tied deceiver style with a grizzly hackle flanking each side and several strands of krystal flash.
Wing : White bucktail.
Body : Wool or substitute spun around shank as you would deer hair. Trim to shape allowing the trailing ends to cover over the tail section.

This fly can be tied in any number of colour variations to suit your needs. Coloured marker pens can be used to add bands or spots.

Good Luck.
