Windsurfing at Koshien, Kansai, Japan.
Michael Walker, Scott Gates and I windsurf at Koshien beach. Koshien is situated in Hyogo prefecture, close to Ashiya. We are members at the club called Lanais. We store all the gear there which means we don't have to lug our stuff back and forwards from home all the time. Of course, most of us have nowhere to store anything at our homes! You may say that the members of the club are pretty daring really as the water we windsurf in is something to behold at times. Apart from that little point, it's a good place. Convenient and the people are great. Here is the URL for the club (Japanese only).

You can also see what the weather, and more importantly, what the wind is like on-line (Japanese only, but the symbols and figures used are easily understood).

Here are some pictures of the place.
Scott getting ready to hit the water and show his stuff. He's only been windsurfing for a year and a half now, but is almost ready for the next step, wave jumping! | |
Here comes Scott returning to shore after a run out on the waters in about a 5 metre per second wind. |
Here's the boss of the club, Takashi, taking a few minutes out to have his photo taken. |
Here's Toshi having 40 winks on the beach between giving lessons. |
Here's Jasper who originates from Denmark. The best windsurfer among us. He's now back in Denmark. |
Here's Mike in Hawaii. We were at Kailua for a few days of fun! |
Here's Mikiko, wife of Jesper. She'll be outdoing him before too long! |
Here's me at Kailua on a rather calmer day than the first day we went there when the winds were blowing in excess of 15 metres per second. |
