HTML

Welcome to my HTML programming page. This page will have links and some basic tips on HTML programming. With the advent of so many web-page editors the art of HTML has all but been forgotten. I'm proud to say that all the pages on this website were written from code without the help of an editor.

Step #1 : Learn HTML

When first starting to learn HTML it is a good idea to have a good reference on hand. I personally recomend NSCA's HTML Primer which is a great learning tool for beginners and a great reference for pros. It is where I first picked up HTML from. This primer will provide a good basis for your HTML coding and step you through the basics of a HTML document.

The above two links should provide as much HTML as you can handle as they both have numerous links to other HTML related material.

Step #2 : Add some graphics and color

After you have a handle on HTML you may want to dress up your site a bit with graphics and color. Check out my Hexidecimal color codes page for hexidecimal codes for a bunch of colors to use for backgrounds, text and links. As far as graphics go check out the following sites for all the webpage graphics to get your site noticed.

Step #3 : Find webspace for your page

It's all well and good that you now have a HTML document that looks great on your own computer but you have to get it out there for the world to see. This involves finding webspace to post your page on. Usually your internet service provider will have a webpage posting as part of your connection package or for a fee. There are also other online sources that will host your page for free such as my pages here at Geocities.

Step #4 : Get Noticed

Once online it is necessary to get your page noticed. One way to accomplish this is to submit your URL to a search engine.

This is not meant to be the be all and end all of website design but is a basis for coding a webpage and getting it up on the web
