Bromont, Qc
Famous for hosting the Grundig World Cup, Bromont IS the best place to ride anywhere in the east. It has many downhill trails as well as cross-country trails. The resort contains 100 km of trails and are well maintened. You can accessed the top of the mountain with the chairlift.
Bromont is the place to go to show off your new equipement. Don't go there and expect to be a big hit with your new 1000$ bike. The big bikes there are normally worth between 3000$ and 5000$. These bikes are pure downhill machines. Don't worry, the place is not a show off place, people are here to ride!
I'm more of a cross-country guy so I tend to go ride on the back of the mountain were the trails are not riden everyday. These trails are in the deep forest. No noise, nobody there to bother you except your buddy who rides with you (never ride alone).
My favorite DH trails are:
Bromont Extra-Légère
Bonzaï
Adrénaline
My favorite XC trails are:
Pic du chevreuil
Pomme de route
Mont Joie
Trail Review
Bromont Extra-Légère J
This is a smooth beginner-like downhill trail. It's the best combo between XC and DH. The trail feels like a XC trail but does not have uphills (only a few short ones). The ride is smooth and slow, of course if you're a true DH fan you're gonna be pedaling from top to bottom in your warm up run. The trails goes winding trough the woods for 9.0 km.
On the last part when the trail comes back along the "Tour de la montagne" trail, it is always nic to race on the "Pomme de route" trail.
Pomme de route
This one is really short and fast. It's a cross-country trail that goes downhill following the "Tour de la montagne". It is short and winding. It's a nice trail to race with a couple of friends but be careful because it's very much of a single track! Only a bike wide and very few places to pass… When you ride this trail at full speed, you will ride as fast as 35-40 km/h with some really tricky part as low as 10-15 km/h. It's a really hard pack trail, some small roots, no mud, pure fun…
Pic du chevreuil
This one is not often riden because it begins with a nice and very steep climb that you can do riding the bike but don't over-power your legs because the uphill is very technical. But the ride up is worth it! The trail is open and nothing gets in your way. When you start this trail you're at a 350 m altitude and you will end up at the top of the Pic du chevreuil sitting up at 500 m. This is quite a climb!
Adrénaline
This is a nice and steep DH trail. It is very tricky at the top. This is where I broke my shoulder last summer (too bad!). I still like the trail because there is some tricky spots in the woods and nice and fast parts in the ski trails. The best part is at the bottom where you just go wild and go trough the woods. Because the trail is not very steep, it's easy for everybody to go fast! But the sad part is that if you're just starting on a mountain bike, you won't see this plkace until you're good enough to ride the steep part at the top.
Bonzaï J
The favorite trail among donwhillers! This is a nice a recent trail. It was made 2 years ago (I think!) This is the most steep and technical trail of Bromont. The best thing is to try it!
