Welcome - Who We Are, What We Do, Our Officers, How To Get Here

WHO - Started in 1984 with 12 charter members, now with a membership of over 50 individuals dedicated to the sport of catamaran sailboat racing. Experience levels from true beginner, with no sailing or racing experience, who are learning through active participation, to veterans of several national and international competitions and championship events, including 2003's Hobie MEGA North American Continental Championships, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, 2004's Coca-Cola Hobie 16 World Championships at Riviera Maya, Mexico, and 2005's Hobie 18 Tiger World Championships in Santa Barbara, California, and the 16 Nationals in Ventura, California. Ages range from pre-teen on up. On any given Tuesday, an average of 20 boats are on the water competing.

Affiliated with Hobie Class Association - North American and part of its Division 10. The fleet has been actively involved in running Hobie division 10 regatta's, including the Austin Lake Regatta, the St. Joseph Hotel By The Lake/Holiday Inn/Clementines/St. Joe Regattas, and the Ludington Regatta. In addition, the fleet has hosted Divisional and National Championship events.

WHAT - Hobie 16 fleet and Portsmouth handicap racing of catamaran sailboats.

WHEN - Starting sequence begins at 6:30PM, beginning the first Tuesday in May (May 6th, 2008) for 8 weeks (Spring Series). The Summer Series begins July 8th, and runs for 10 weeks (Summer Series).

WHERE - Austin Lake, Portage, Michigan (5 Miles South of Kalamazoo). See maps below.

WHY - Promote the sport of catamaran racing, and the camraderie and fun that's a part of it.

Map 3 From the South:
take US-131 N to Centre Street exit, East to Portage Rd.

From North:
take US-131 to
I-94 East.

From East or West:
take I-94 to Exit 78 (Portage Rd), head South.

Map 4 South on Portage Road, past Centre St. 1.5 Miles. Turn left onto Woodbine. At end of Woodbine, left into Public Access.
