50th AirVenture 2002 Oshkosh, WI

I arrived in my Thorp T-18 late on opening day 979 miles from home base Ellington Field in Houston, TX.

First day activities were winding down so it was time to fine the camp site.

Ahhh... just in time for dinner and Tom's great cooking as well as a warm welcome from some great aviators.

This year I had a mission to attend as many forums, talks, and classes I could fit in.  Here I'm at a basic sheet metal riveting class.

I did make time to walk around and see what other builders are working on.

Got a chance to ask Dick Rutan a few questions about the rocket powered Long EZ and if he was going for the X prize.

Yes that's fresh shrimp ...its tough camping in the north woods.

Staged and ready for the trip home.  Now if the fog would only lift we could takeoff.

Three hours later I was on my way.  Now to join up with Jim and Merri in the Long EZ.  A white and blue sport plane is going to hard to spot in these clouds.

There they are.  I'll just pull up in formation then two fuel stops to Houston.
It was another great Oshkosh adventure.
