Dates and Locales at which I've surfed recently:
Saturday, March 11th: Moonlight Beach, Encinitas
--2-5':Mushy waves with little power
Sunday, March 12th: 19th St., Del Mar
--3-7':Small period swell. Messy with plenty of waves coming in.
Thursday, March 16th PM: D St., Encinitas
--3-6':Blown-out day, semi-fun. Pulled my calf dodging shorebreak :o( Friday, March 17th: Upper Trestles, San Clemente
--4-7':Extremely fun, peaky surf w/ surprisingly few people out. Pulled HUGE roundhouse cutback as well as surfed a wave until my fins hit the sand
Saturday, March 18th PM: D St., Encinitas
--3-8':Messy, closed-out walls with too much fog to be enjoyable
Sunday, March 19th: Pipes, Cardiff;
--4-8':Bombs came through every twenty minutes, most of them close-outs. Lots of loggers and hodads wreaking havoc.
Sunday, March 19th PM: Grandview, Leucadia
--5-7': Fun albeit sectiony surf. Went for floaters on first four waves and got thrashed all four times. Color of water was a light green, while the sky was a bright orange.
Friday, March 24th: Pipes, Cardiff
--3-6': Weird session. One-wave sets followed by long lulls. Freak rogue sets came in and cleaned up. Not much fun.
Saturday, March 25th: Pipes, Cardiff
--2-4': Blown-out slop. Shouldn't have paddled out.
Monday, March 27th: Trestles, San Clemente
--2-4': Good when we first paddled out. Twenty minutes later, a S wind dogged the surf and ruined it. Emptiest and worst Trestles I've ever seen.
Tuesday, March 28th: Moonlight, Encinitas
--3-7': Spent te sesh dodging clean-up sets and taking off on no-way-out close-outs. Not much fun.
Wednesday, March 29th: Pipes, Cardiff
--4-7': Good at first, reminiscent of Monday's sesh at Trestles. Got a close-out barrel and proceeded to be tossed over the falls. Ended up hitting the reef. That was the worst beating I've taken in months, but not too harsh to scare me (too much).
Thursday, March 30th: Pipes, Cardiff
--4-8': A lot of fun. Waves came in rather sporadically, but when they did, they were real gems. Surfed longer than usual because of the conditions.
March's surf count: 13 sessions
Pipes: 5
Moonlight: 4
Trestles: 2
Del Mar and Grandview: 1
Sunday, April 9th: Scripps, La Jolla
--3-5': Fun dusk sesh even though i was only out for 40 minutes. I caught a bunch of waves. Nice to be back out in the water after extended flat spell.
Sunday, October 1st: Black's Beach
--4-7': VERY packed, and quite a few closeouts. Still some fun ones were out there and the water was pretty warm for this time of year.
Sunday, October 1st: Grandview
--3-6': Not quite as packed as Black's earlier that morning. A lot more fun also. Good lefts were coming in. Unfortunately, I was dogged and snaked by these two HUGE dudes w/ weird quasi-Strine accents. I chose not to fight. :o)
Sunday, October 1st PM: D St., Encinitas
--2-5': The swell was constantly dropping all day. It was blown-out and closing out. Not too much fun. I did manage a nice snap off the top on a closeout so, I did salvage some of the session...
Wednesday, October 11th: Cardiff Reef
--3-6': Lots of fun! Had the lefts to myself. I was pumping like crazy and pulled this crazy off-the-top spraying floater to rebound off the foam. A storm came in later and ruined it.
Sunday, October 15th: Grandview
--2-5': Pretty fun, a little mushy. The water is getting cold quickly...
