Albany Creek Skate Park

North West Brisbane

Built: 1998

Address: Old Northern Rd (Lemke Park)

To get there, just look for the main shopping centre along Old Northern Rd and the park with the big drain beside it should be Lemke Park. It is easiest to park on the main road, in the white lines, and just walk down the hill. There wasn't a tap there that I could recall from last time, but they may have one now.

This is another place that seems to have had a lot of good ideas, but between the planning and the building, the costs have been cut and so have the dimensions, legnthways. Everything is big, or at least what would normally be a good height, but most of the ramps and banks are very steep, really making you work for your tricks. A great place to improve your talent, but not so much a place to learn new tricks. As for the layout itself, there is a bank at one end, another smaller hip bank on one side and a double step grind box on the other. Think of two big steps with banks leading up to each side (pro comp style) all decked out with coping and a hand rail down the bigger step on one side. At the other end is a clover leaf style bowl, which is less than average shoulder height (4-5ft) but has all together too much vert for something of that size. It makes for a very interesting skate, but not somewhere I would return to in a hurry.
