WASHINGTON, Aug 13 —Federal regulators
Thursday charged Geocities, a popular Internet
destination that hosts free Web sites, misled its
two million members by secretly selling personal
information about them to marketers. The
Federal Trade Commission, in its first Internet
privacy case, said Geocities had agreed to advise
customers of its true data collection practices
and allow them to delete previously gathered
data.
