Martin Gore is the main songwriter (and occasional singer) for Depeche
Mode ever since Vince Clarke left.
Sometimes people have a hard time differentiating Martin's voice in Depeche Mode songs.
Here's a list of DM songs on which Martin sings the lead vocal:
- Any Second Now (Voices)
- Shouldn't Have Done That
- Pipeline
- It Doesn't Matter
- Somebody
- A Question of Lust
- Sometimes
- It Doesn't Matter Two
- World Full of Nothing
- Things You Said
- I Want You Now
- Route 66
- Sweetest Perfection
- Blue Dress
- Enjoy the Silence (Harmonium)
- Death's Door
- Judas
- One Caress
- Home
- The Bottom Line
Besides these songs, Martin sings a duet with Dave on several songs,
notably "Here is the House", "Behind the Wheel", and "Waiting for the Night".
Counterfeit EP
Released in June 1989. STUMM 67, Sire 25980-1/2/4
Produced by Martin L. Gore and Rico Conning
On this mini-album however, Martin hasn't written a single song himself, which would
explain the title (counterfeit = fake, forgery). The two
first songs could possibly pass for Depeche Mode songs around 86 - 89, while the rest
are a bit more diverse in styles. They're all quite good though, more or less. If you're a
DM fan and like Martin's voice, this may well be something you should check out.
Tracks list:
- 5:28 Compulsion
- 4:21 In a Manner of Speaking
- 5:04 Smile in the Crowd
- 3:30 Gone
- 3:03 Never Turn Your Back on Mother Earth
- 2:50 Motherless Child
Total 24:27
