Here are some interesting photos of the Team.
This is where S.D.B.A (Singapore Dragon Boat Association) is. It is also our training ground for weights training. Right photo shows the national paddlers training with dumbbells just outside S.D.B.A.
One Big Family - Both Ladies' and Men's Team at the Jakarta Sea Games in 1997. This is where we stay.
This is the Ladies Team paddling a full-sized dragon boat during one of the races. In Singapore the ladies event often make use of the 'baby' dragon boat but for international races it is very common to use a full-sized one. This is a photo taken at the Jakarta Sea Games. Sometimes the ladies paddlers have to join forces with the men paddlers for mixed events. This is the mixed team getting ready to race. We were in Malaysia for the 3rd Asian Dragon Boat Federation Championship and the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival 1998. Ever Seen a long Dragonboat?! I was so surprised to see such a long dragonboat in China! And they have a number of such boats! But no, they were not racing. These paddlers were just rowing to and fro on the race site for the opening ceremony, just before the races started. Try count how many pairs there are on this boat, heehee.... wonder how it is like to cox such a long boat! And imagine using such a boat to race! ;> Thailand International Swan Boat Race '98 The Ladies team went for the Swan Boat race in Thailand recently. I was not with the team for this trip. Here are some interesting photos taken during their stay in Thailand. On the airplane! Wow...ladies, you all do look very attractive! :P Notice the pretty flowers dangling over their neck, I heard that is one of the Thai's way of welcoming foreign friends.
The ladies (in yellow) with some foreign friends and paddlers. I think these are girls from the Thailand team.
The ladies at the race site. Stealing some time for some fun amidst pressures coming from the races. |
