  • Since 14th June 1996 it has been legal to fly foot launched powered hang gliders in the UK.

  • I fly a Solar Wings Rumour hang glider with a Swedish AeroSport Mosquito motor harness.
  • Warmup Run Takeoff

  • With the Mosquito, a glider can take off & land on foot, from flat ground.

  • The maximum climb rate is about 400 feet per minute.

  • The maximum airspeed in level flight is 45 mph.

  • The Mosquito has been manufactured in Sweden since 1988.
  • Overhead Approach Landing

  • The motor can be stopped & re-started in flight, allowing extended flights to be made using thermals.

  • A four litre fuel tank gives up to two hours of engine running time. (I've flown for 3 hours on 3 litres).

  • With a 15 hp (11kW) Radne Raket 120 cc motor, it has ample power for nil wind take offs.

  • It's compatible with most of todays high performance hang gliders.

  • The only glider modification required is to shorten the keel tube.

  • The Mosquito costs about £3,000 (GB Pounds) in the United Kingdom.

  • Use the Personal Currency Assistant to convert to your currency.

  • The harness weighs about 46 lbs (21 kg).

  • Download a video clip of the Mosquito in action! (with sound)
