Strongest Bench Press 760 lbs!
Jamie
preparing for an attempt at 770 lbs!
interview
done by: Igor "The Air Raid Powerlifter" Jolevich
Igor:
Mr. Harris, please tell us what your best bench press is and at what body
weight?
Jamie:
I HAVE DONE 760 lbs (345.4 kg) at 367 lbs (166.8 kg body weight)
on OCT 19 1996 with a close miss at 781 atthe IPA PA state open.
Igor:
Do you enter full meets or do you specialize for the bench press?
Jamie:
I was a one lift specialist but i have done an 805 squat and a 700 deadlift.
Igor:
In what federation do you compete?
Jamie:
I have lifted in the IPA and APF, however I believe the politics of powerlifting
feds is just ruining the sport, i have no preference because i believe
they all have good and bad points, mostly bad.
Igor:
How many times a week do you bench and what does your routine look like?
Jamie:
I believe that one time a week is plenty, rest and recovery is so important
at that level, my routine is basic, looks like this:
monday

600x8

raise ( whatever i feel like doing)
Igor:
What exercises do you do for the triceps that by your opinion create such
an amazing bench press?
Jamie: skulls
and close grips are the only ones I do, they are the most
effective,
but most dangerous, injury prone.
Jamie
Harris dominates the weight!
Igor:
What is your favorite bench shirt?
Jamie: John
Inzer and myself have worked together on my shirts, his denim is by
far the best
on the market. Call them at 18002226897 and tell them I
sent you
and you want the same shirt JAMIE HARRIS uses, he will fix you
up, if you
have any questions about the shirt contact me at my
page..................
I will help you the best I can!
Igor:
Do you think that the lifters that lift raw should have a different emphasis
while training the bench press and what would that be?
Jamie: Lifting
without gear is a different animal, I would only say that if you
compete with
a shirt get used to it at least 7 weeks before the meet.
The rep and
set schemes can stay the same.
Igor:
What kind of exercises do you do for the deltoids? Any pressing movements?
Jamie: Rear
delt work is extremely important, when they are weak you have
unstableness,
which can lead to derease in max or an injury WORK THOSE
DELTS!!!
Igor:
Do you have some general advice for the lifters that have been troubled
with a plateau in the bench press? What is usually the mistake?
Jamie: QUIT
OVERTRAINING and DO NOT LIVE in the GYM. More is not better in this
game, the
better you get the more you will understand that your body is
not a machine
and will only last if you listen to it. Take advantage of
deep tissue
therapy, chiropractic care and nutrition and the like
MOST IMPORTANTLY,
DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO ANYONE BUT YOU, BREAKING
PRS IS THE
NAME OF THE GAME. ON MEET DAY, BE A ANIMAL, LET NOTHING STAND
IN YOUR WAY,
ATTACK THE WEIGHT, FIND OUT WHAT MOTIVATES YOU AND WHAT
TRIGGERS
THE BEAST IN YOU!
HAVE FUN
AND STAY STRONG!
GOD BLESS!
