UNITED NATIONS STAFF RECREATION COUNCIL

SKI CLUB

NEWSLETTER NO 3

22 December 2000

Dear Club Members:

The Ski Club Committee is actively preparing the Club's programme for the upcoming season. As you already know we have scheduled four weekend trips as well as two long trips in Europe. The pre-season party in October was a success, but we would have liked to see many more of our old friends. Thanks go to those volunteers who donated their time and effort in helping us run the party; without their contribution it would not have been such an eventful evening.

The weekend trip dates are as follows:

Okemo, Vermont 5-7 January

Stowe, Vermont 9-11 February

New Hampshire 16-19 February (3-day Presidents weekend)

Killington, Vermont 30 March - 1 April

There is still space on the weekend trip to Okemo and the trip to Val Thorens, France. We have just learned that the Cervinia trip is ready to go. The Crested Butte trip did not materialize, and we are sorry for that.

Needless to say, this season could be the best yet for white powder according to weather experts, since we won't be hampered by "el Niņo or la Niņa" and snow is already falling Upstate.

As for the Social Register, members may be interested to hear that Corina Popescu, former UN staff member and recipient of the Most Eleganttly Attired Skier Award, and Ian Keith, great Club skier, had a little girl, Saskia, in Ireland, and Angie Dee, former Executive Committee Member and Sandro Dessi, both UN staff members, had a little boy, Steven Vallerio, in New York City. Congratulations to the proud parents!

You may flip through the photo albums and will "meet" past and present Members. And if you would like to have your picture on the album, please, do not be shy, send yours to be included.

The Committee wishes all members a very happy and jolly holiday and hopes to see you soon on the slopes.
