Due to complications at the field in Brookville, the action took place at our back-up field in Colerain.  The days event started early with the temperature in the 90's!  A few members of Team Predator were there along with a couple of former players for Ohio University.  The first game was "Assault and Defend" which ended in a draw.  Wayne Smith and Ryan Williams (formly with OU) started out impressively with two quick kills.  But with reincarnation the players were back in quickly.  Tony Catanzaro, captain of Team Predator was making good progress attacking the flag until he was taken out by Predator Co-captain, Brian Tilley.  Due to the heat, fogging was a problem, causing low visibilty - and a slow moving game.  After Brian's kill, he fell back, crossed the flag and gave his teammates help on the right side.  Due to the fogging, Wayne and Ryan could not advance much further than the creek and were mainly localized in the center.  Tony was able to sweep the left side and push back a couple of players.  He was within 15 yards of the flag when the game was called.
In the second game, the sides were flip flopped.  Brian's team came in mainly on the left - the side Tony was defending.  After a few minutes of trading shots he was able to take out two and send the third one (Brian) retreating back to the center.  Two of Brian's teammates ran out of ammo and had to leave.  That left Brian with only one other player - Jason Harris of Team Predator.  Wayne and Ryan had Jason pinned down pretty well, causing him to fall back.  Then Tony made his way down to the creek in pursuit of Brian, with Ryan covering his trail.  Soon after, Ryan's remote tank blew sending CO2 everywhere knocking him out of the game and giving away their location.  Tony then had to crawl down the creek to avoid getting hammered.  He finally got to a somewhat defendable spot when he started drawing fire.  He could tell it was close but not how close.  He returned fire but due to severe fogging could not be sure where his opponent was.  As it turned out Brian was on the other side of the small mound no more than 20 feet away!  He was so well hidden even Wayne up on the hill could not get in a good shot.  Tony was able to sweep out to the right and shooting heavily in a mad dash, made it to the other side of the split in the creek.  This position was to Brian's left flank, forcing him to fall back.  During all this Jason was trying to sweep behind Tony, but due to thick brush he was forced to circle back the other direction.  Brian was trading shots with Tony and Wayne when again time ran short.  It was fortunate for Brian because he only had ten shots left!
For it being the first Open Day and considering the heat, it was a pretty successful day - everyone had a good time.  Hopefully for the next Event, they main field will be ready and the weather will be better.  Be sure to make it to the next Open Day!!
