Tournement Results!

Updates From Buffalo Tournament 2000!

Our Junior team participated in their second international tournament. This year the tourney was held in Buffalo New York. There were 43 participating teams.
The Junior teams first game was against Kawartha, a team which last year beat us 7-1. Well boy were they in for a big surprise, we are not the same team we were last year. We beat them 4-2. Our captain Josh started racking up the points early, he scored all 4 goals for the Pens with help from Jesse and Jennifer who each got one assist. What a difference a year makes!
Later that day we faced off against
Fort Erie. Well they came out strong and scored 3 goals in a row very quickly. We were down but far from out the game lasted 30 minutes, plenty of time to come back, and come back we did. We ended up winning 9-5 in a very high scoring game. Jennifer got a goal, her first ever. Jesse got 2 and Josh got an amazing 6! Jesse, Diana, Erika, and Matt each got an assist, while our assistant captain Ricky got 2.  Our team can even play well at 6am!
In a game against The Mass Hospital School Charioteers we played fantastic winning 7-0. This gave our goalie Tommy his second shut out. Josh kept racking up the points getting another 4 goals, Andy got one and Troy, a new addition to our team got not only his first goal but a second right after that.

The pressure was on for our 4th and possible final game against Sarnia Ice Hawks. If we did not win we did not make the playoffs. Well, another team effort from everyone involved made it possible for us to pull it off. Josh had a hand in every single goal scored, he got 5 goals and 2 assists Jesse and Andy also got a goal each. Other assists were had by Jesse Troy and Jennifer.
We made it to the playoffs, a big improvement from last place last year. Our first game we knew would be a tough one. It was against The Niagra Challangers, they were the host team on their own ice, on top of having a reputation... Well we lost. I don't have the exact scores but I do know that it was the WORST officiating I have ever seen and I will leave it at that.
Well we still had a chance to take 3rd place overall if we won the next game against the Halton Peel Cruisers. It was a very hard fought game all the way through, they just happened to get a few more in the goal. With a final score of 3-1 we lost. Josh got our only goal unassisted.  We ended up going home very happy, 4th place out of 13 teams. That is certainly an improvement from last place last year. WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES!!

Atlantic City Junior Tournement

Great News!!
The Mighty Penguins attended a tournement in Atlantic City New Jersey over Presidents Day weekend. We played 4 games against 4 very good teams at The Flyers Skate Zone. In our first game against All Island(A) we won2-0. Later that day we played All Island(B) and tied 1-1 in a game well played by both teams. The next day we started off with the most challanging game of the tournement, playing The Niagra Challangers. Although we lost 2-1 we certainly learned a lot! In the final game of the day and of the tournement we played the host team Atlantic Hammerheads in a great game which we won 5-2.
NEW! OUR COACHES HAVE JUST RECIEVED WORD THAT IN FACT WE DID TAKE 1ST PLACE IN THE NJ TOURNAMENT!!
