Rob was the original 'no-gamer', who had a hare-brained idea that he could go from being a semi-fit mountain biker into a serious cyclist and pull off something like the Leadville 100. Rob definitely started from the unenviable position of 'least fit' man on the team back in August 1998, due in no small part to his keen appreciation of finely brewed ale beverages. However, now he has the discipline of a monk and the willpower of a sturdy Oak and has forsaken such indulgences until after the race, or some such nonsense. He made us type that.
A quote from Rob on his road bike: "You'll note that my way cool Trek road bike is listed as "High Performance," which is good. That means at least one aspect of my riding is high performance - my bike. This bike is also a bona-fide Team Sherpa rig, complete with decals. These factors of course make me a better, faster rider. I may even add a bell. That'll almost guarantee that I can beat any BigWheel-riding kid on the block."
