August 28th 1999
This summer a small group of us got together and held the first official High Power
launch in B.C. The Canadian Launch Safety Office (CLSO) wavier gave us up to 10,000
feet above sea level! The site is great - with plenty of recovery area and minimal
wind. The weather was fantastic. We hope to hold another High Power launch at the site
in
the spring of 2000.
It was definately not my day in terms of successful
flights, but bad days happen in this hobby :)
I lost my 3" LOC 4-29ss which had two
29mm Dr. Rocket reloadable motors on board.

up his LOC Caliber for its first flight on an H123W
Mark's Caliber as the
payload seperates and the chute comes out. The H123 motor experienced 'blow-by' and
fired the ejection charge just after the motor pressurized.
The Caliber lives to fly
again! This time the H123 performs flawlessly and it soars to 3200 feet.

Me and my "Upward Express"
(LOC Caliber) which is quite 'weathered', having sat in the Monroe swamp for a
month.

My LOC 4-29ss fully loaded
with 2 H128's which were to airstart 2 G35's. Unfortunately, as the picture confirms, only
one of the H's lit and it flew a long arc and pranged in the forest.
