Simply put is the most mesmerizing game ever to hit the Computer waves, frankly, I cannot imagine being...without it! It combines this world, with a fantasy world, with a few added perks (Death and Taxes Removed so what is a sure thing? Fun!).
Ultima Online is a breakdown of life...digitilized, below is what I think your best bet if you are starting out in the game, I have found it be very useful indeed, in my quest to build the "Grandmaster Warrior."
Alot of the stuff you here about "Balancing" your charachter is BS. Certain things will balance your charachter better then others. But, this should be your best bet when starting a charachter in stats.
Strength | Dexterity | Intelligence | Skill To Use with This Stats |
45 | 10 | 10 | Fencing |
40 | 15 | 10 | Lumberjacking or Mining |
Most definetly you should have High Strength, sure you can do alot of other things with your stats, making them perfectly equal (25, 25, 25) but trust me, Dexterity and Intelligence go up fast, while Strength takes forever, unless your a miner or Lumberjack, and even then I say think twice.
Tips to think about as you go alone on your little quests for cash and money and fame and fourtune...whatever.
- Money is everything, having a steady supply of cash is a good way to really work on your charachter. Think twice before you create that charachter that only knows how to Parry and Swing, he won't get far when he starts, and when he starts is the most critical time for him/her. A solid Lumberjack or Miner with a steady swing or strong muscles, will naturally build up strength given time, and will be better in the long run.
- Roleplay guilds are your friends. Even if you have no intent to stay with it, a guild can more often then not, find you some armor that's been collecting dust, saving you your hard earned cash. Most guilds even have a grandmaster. All my items at Granmaster status are 31 Armor, while you can get a Full Set of Plate with minus 16 Dextarity, and only have 30 armor. My armor drops me about...1 point tops. I highly recommend getting and considering joining a Roleplay guild. A regular guild is fine, but regular guilds do nothing, and more often then not have no War Fare status making it hard to build your skills.
- You suck. Frankly your skills are never gonna bide up half as well as you may think, and most of the times your ass is in the pit. So don't go after that Giant Ettin, back off. Wait until your at least 80 strength before tackling something that hard. 9 times out of 10 you will get slaughtered.
- Hiding and Tracking are invaluble tools to any traveler, I found them beyond useful, mostly because due to them, you learn what to avoid and wear, and where to hunt. Hiding is essential to the newbie traveler as he or she can instantly hide if getting hurt, put on that bandage or drink that potion, before swinging back into the fight. I recommend it as your I-Have-to-Pee to Phone-is-ringing lifesaver device. It is beyond a doubt one of the most useful things to have.
