While I don't actually own on of these, I have three friends who do and I ordered all of them using my credit card and have been exposed to them a lot so I think I can write a pretty good review.
Appearance When I first saw one of these I was very impressed. It didn't look "real" of course, but it had a nice finish to it and was generally just attractive to the eye. Well, as attractive as a Glock can be. I'm not too big a fan. Sorry. Anyways, it doesn't have the frills that other springers may. There is no opening ejection port and it doesn't field strip. But it is a fairly nice looking piece. On the slide it says "AUSTRIA" and "9x19". There are no trademarks or orange paint.
Performance This is where the UHC Glock 17s get sketchy. I've used three of them. My neighbor's works very well. In fact, it is probably the most accurate, high-powered and durable spring pistol we have. Once it was dropped on cement, busted open, and, with a simple whacking of the slide back on, ready to go again. Of course, then there is a downside. My two roomates here at college both got Glock 17s, and they both busted within a week. It seems that BBs have a tendency to lodge themselves in the slide, making it impossible to remove them. Eventually, the whole thing stops working. Anyways. I guess it is pretty much luck getting a good one, which seems to be a continuing trait with UHCs springers.
Negative They often don't work. No metal. Slide looks a little bit too plasticy. Magazine is hard to load and often explodes the BBs everywhere. That's about it. Though those are pretty significant negatives.
Price I got one of them from Tapco for $19.99 and two at Shorty USA. I really am hesitant to suggest them. I guess for the price it is worth the risk if you really want a Glock, though you may want to save up a little longer and get a Tokyo Marui one. They're a lot better I hear. |
