Spessard-Holland(Sebatian inlet area): Spessard-Holland
is a break much like Vilano. It has a shell-ridden shoreline with thick
beachbreak at high tide and good waves to surf at any other tide. It is
almost always a reformed wave but don't let that fool you. Just the other
day, I snapped my magic board(a carbon Slotty) right in half. I have a
new respect for this place. It has showers and free parking.
Directions: From I-95 take US192 (Melbourne area) all
the way to the AIA stoplight(20-25 min), you'll see "The Longboard House"
on the right. Turn right here. Go south until you hit a 4-way stop. Turn
left. Turn right at the next stop sign. Go south 10 minutes. There are
two different access on the left(2mi apart); check them both.
call me(Brad Evers) @ 407-674-8671 if you
plan to skim here, I'll go out too.
Sebastian Inlet: A very wedgy reform that
breaks on a steep beach. The wave is very thick, and is better suited for
big smacks and airs than tricks. Sometimes it has siders that break randomly
along the beach. Also bring your surfboard for some good, famous waves.
Directions: Follow directions for Spessard-Holland, but
go south an additional 25 minutes until you see a bridge ahead. Just before
the bridge, on the right, is the Sebastian Inlet State Park Recreation
Area access. It costs $3.25 to get in, but it has showering facilities
and food and drink vendors. Beware of crowds during a good swell.

Virginia Beach: It can rip pretty good on a good day in the summer but lots of people. However there is a better place about 5 min away. Directions: take I-264 East all the way down to Pacific Ave, take a right on Pacific, go all the way down to the bridge and then Pacific turns into General Booth. Go down a little ways until you see a slight curve to the right in the road before the speed limit changes and take a left on Croatan Rd. Go all the way down following the municipal parking signs and there you are. When you get to the beach go to the right toward the surfing spot. For better directions check mapquest. the best thing about the parking lot is that it's free and there is lots of parking spots i've never seen it full. the best tides to go are either a little bit before high tide or during and a little bit after high tide. I was there the other day and it was breaking right on the shore with 5-6 ft waves which is the best i've seen around here.
Peace, Pat
