You don't have to like science fiction shows to enjoy Babylon 5. This show is in its fourth season and has a very loyal following.
One of the interesting things about Babylon 5 is that while the episodes stand alone, they are all part of an ongoing "5 year arc". Unlike most television shows, this one has a definite plan for five years of shows that will tell a story when taken as a whole. If you want to find out details of past episodes, I suggest that you visit the Lurker's Guide.
The space station and other space vehicles in the show are all rendered with sophisticated computer animation software. They usually leave Star Trek in the dust. One of the things that I truly like about the show is that you have the feeling of openness, you're not spending 98% of the show on the command deck and you really get the feeling that the place is enormous. Also, the spacecraft fly in a realistic space flight pattern,... not as if they were affected by wind and gravity (a la Star Wars style) or they were driving on a flat highway (a la Star Trek style).
If you're looking for something new and exciting, try Babylon 5!
